Abstract Homotopy Theory and Generalized Sheaf Cohomology
HOMOTOPY THEORY AND GENERALIZED SHEAF COHOMOLOGY BY KENNETHS. BROWN0) ABSTRACT. Cohomology groups Ha(X, E) are defined, where X is a topological space and £ is a sheaf on X with values in Kan's category of spectra. These groups generalize the ordinary cohomology groups of X with coefficients in an abelian sheaf, as well as the generalized cohomology of X in the usual sense. The groups are defin...
متن کاملGeneralized Aharonov-Bohm Effect, Homotopy Classes and Hausdorff Dimension
We suggest as gedanken experiment a generalization of the Aharonov-Bohm experiment, based on an array of solenoids. This experiment allows in principle to measure the decomposition into homotopy classes of the quantum mechanical propagator. This yields information on the geometry of the average path of propagation and allows to determine its Hausdorff dimension. PACS index: 03.65.Bz
متن کاملHomotopy Field Theory in Dimension 2 and Group-algebras
We apply the idea of a topological quantum field theory (TQFT) to maps from manifolds into topological spaces. This leads to a notion of a (d + 1)-dimensional homotopy quantum field theory (HQFT) which may be described as a TQFT for closed d-dimensional manifolds and (d + 1)-dimensional cobordisms endowed with homotopy classes of maps into a given space. For a group π, we introduce cohomologica...
متن کاملHomotopy Theory and Generalized Duality for Spectral Sheaves
In this paper we announce a Verdier-type duality theorem for sheaves of spectra on a topological space X. Along the way we are led to develop the homotopy theory and stable homotopy theory of spectral sheaves. Such theories have been worked out in the past, most notably by [Br], [BG], [T], and [J]. But for our purposes these theories are inappropriate. They also have not been developed as fully...

1. TJ'he first step toward connecting these two basic concepts of topology was taken by L. E. J. Brouwer in 1912 by demonstrating that two continuous mappings of a two-dimensional sphere into itself can be continuously deformed into each other if and only if they have the same degree (that is, if they are equivalent from the point of view of homology theory). After having generalized Brouwer's ...
